I began this series very early in my photography journey. As I started to work more deeply with macro photography and infrared, I noticed that dying flowers on the clearance cart at the grocery store offered an opportunity to capture the unnoticed beauty of blossoms slipping beyond “acceptable” standards of appearance as they pass through the arc of life to death. The result is a collection of unexpectedly intimate portraits – a meditation on liminality that expands the definition of beauty.
