About Me
Hello!
I’m a 50+ former science writer/stats lead/college instructor/pitch consultant in the start-up space. Now, I’m a photographer who enjoys infrared, experimental, and alt processes. Welcome to Ecce Sol Studios! Ecce Sol is Latin for "Behold the Sun". Here I explore all things full spectrum - from in-camera techniques like infrared and UV to darkroom processes like cyanoypes, photograms, and luminograms - my favorite hobby is to play with light. Quick Tour: Spark is a blog that details my ongoing experiments with full spectrum techniques and alt processes in the darkroom. You'll find photos, vidoes, chit-chat, successes, and lots of enthusiastic failures. Wavelengths is a monthly photo essay project exploring science, art, philosophy, history or whatever else happens to inspire. Sometimes I dip into the work of artists I'm studying or dive deep into a scientific theory. Whatever wavelength I'm on at the moment gets creative treatment. Vesper is my seasonal photo zine highlighting a new technique or combo of techniques centered around a single seasonal theme. I publish a digital edition for fans of my work and a collectors edition for patrons. Look for those to land around the solstices and equinoxes each season. Full Spectrum is a bimonthly podcast featuring people from all walks of life whose work crosses over into photography. I am a huge fan of music and science and love to invite both into my workflow. I've been so fortunate to meet so many wonderful, brilliant musicians and STEM types who also dabble in photography. I want to give them and their work the exposure and props they deserve. Friends of the Studio is a comprehensive list of amazing artists, musicians, writers, and generally awesome people I follow and who often inspire my work. I also do occasional reviews of their latest offerings! Definitely check them out! Behold the Sun is the studio's flagship newsletter offering followers updates on all my projects, upcoming events, and whatever else comes to mind that you might be interested in knowing. You can sign-up here! Are you a publication or gallery that's interested in my work? Contact me here. Thanks for dropping by! |
